Artificial Insemination (AI) is widely used in the large scale, vertically integrated swine
industry Many benefits of this reproductive technology, however, can also be captured by
small scale and niche market farmers, as well as 4 H and FFA pig enthusiasts The objective
of this workshop is to provide pig farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to incorporate
AI into their breeding programs Classroom and hands on learning activities will address how
to control and detect heat, when to breed, proper semen handling and evaluation, effective
insemination techniques, and more Lunch will be provided The workshop is free and open to
all pig farmers, including 4 H and FFA youth and their parents However, all participants
must preregister by June 14, 2023 To preregister, call or e mail Dr Mark Estienne with the
names and ages (youth or adult) of persons in your group
